While productive bees can​ reside in basic vanilla hives, if you would like to get resources and honey from them, you will need to create an advanced hive using the recipe pictured below. Depending on the version, different wood variations can exist for this block, though they all work in the same way.. 
To create a hive, you will need 2 honeycombs, a campfire, planks, REVISE WITH RECIPIE​​. When collecting resources from this hive, bees should not attack the player since there is a built-in campfire smoking the bees for you. Each advanced hive can hold 3 bees at a time and have a relatively slow production time.
